I had bought my system in 2010 and it was working fine all this time until 2 months ago when my SMPS started giving issues. I opened the cabinet and realized that intermittently the red LED which is besides the CPU used to light up. When I checked my motherboard manual that LED indicates incorrect voltage on the board. Ultimately my SMPS started malfunctioning and stopped working. I managed to get the SMPS repaired and the computer was working fine however the red LED would still light up. I didnt want to take any chances with the existing SMPS so I then bought the Corsair CX750 watts SMPS to replace it, however ever since I have connected this new SMPS, the red LED no longer lights up but on POST the internal speaker beeps twice then a pause and again beeps twice after which there is no sound however all the fans and hard disks continue to keep spinning but there is no display on the screen. Here are the troubleshooting steps I have performed so far but nothing seems to stop the 2 beepa issue:-
1) Disconnected all the components and removed the motherboard from the cabinet and tried booting it outside the cabinet with the bare minimal (1 RAM, CPU GPU and PSU). All other troubleshooting steps below are done with the bare minimals
2) Cleant all the components including the CPU fan and heatsink, applied new thermal paste as well
3) GPU fan was also opened and cleaned thoroughly, thermal paste applied
4) Tried swapping the RAM in alternate memory slots
5) Toggled the GPU to secondary PCI-E slot
6) Reset the CMOS by extraction or battery
After performing all thsee troubleshooting steps it still gives me two beeps pause two beeps.
Here is my configuration
Intel DX58SO motherboard
Intel Core i7 930 CPU (no OC)
4 GB Kingston DDR5 RAM
1 GB ATI RadeonHD 5770 GPU
1 Seagate 500GB HDD
1 WD Cavier 2 TB HDD
Corsair CX750 PSU
Please help!!!
