I am currently running my 3080RTX to my LG G1 Oled and running the earc to my newly purchased stereo receiver (Sony STRDH590 ). Unfortunaly, there seems to be a handshake or EDID issue because when I go to the sound settings in Windows, it only gives me the option for 2 channel stereo audio.

However, if I plug my 3080 directly into the receiver, I can then get all of the 5.1, .71, ect options from Windows. I do not want to do this because the receiver can only do 4k 60hz, not 120hz.

How can I get Nvidia to recognize that the television is sending it's audio to a 5.1 audio receiver?

Solution
The avr doesn't support eArc, that's why.

Does gpu have two Hdmi ports? If you kept the avr? Or try DP to Hdmi, one cable to TV for the refresh rate and other directly to avr for audio. DP to Hdmi will send surround audio.

Imo, exchange avr for a model with Hdmi 2.1 and eArc. Arc is old technology and only supports 2.1 audio.
