Question 2 CPU headers on msi b450 gaming pro carbon?

Hi, the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon has two Pins for CPU (as you can see on the image). My PSU doesnt have 2 CPU cables, only a 4+4 Pin. Do i need both cables and a new PSU or is this just for hardcore OC?

Whether you actually need them for power delivery may be doubtful but some motherboards won't boot unless all sockets are populated with connectors. You could probably get by with a splitter / adapter cable if it turns out that's one that does.

thanks a lot. i will try without first and get a splitter when it doesnt work. On my friends board (not a msi one but a similar am4+) it worked finde with one 8pin cpu connector

Sounds like a plan

By the way, I would STRONGLY suggest NOT using this adapter option if you do happen to be planning on extreme overclocking attempts. But for a 'normally' overclocked Ryzen, even a 2700, 8 pin power delivery is really quite adequate.
