OK, I just bought a Tyan Tiger board and two pentium 3-1000 chips, got the system up with windows 98 and then I put windows 2000 over it because all I had was the upgrade version... but afetr I installed everything I run some programs that are smp enabled, but they only see one processor that can be used. Why could this be? I used CPUID and it showed me both CPU's and their properties, so it is definitely hooked up and working, but seems like windows 2000 isnt working with me. Any suggestions?

Just for future reference (not having to do with your problem) You don't have to install a previous version of Windows for upgrade windows... Just setup as normal with the 'upgrade' cd and it will ask you to verify the upgrade by placing a previous version of windows in the CD-Rom... should save you 30 minutes in the future.

At some point during the win2k installation procedure you will need to press F5 or F6. Press whatever 1 it doesn't say and select dual CPU PC or whatever it is.

Right-click on the task bar, then select "Task Manager..." then click on the "Performance" tab. If the "CPU Usage History" grid is split in two (i.e. you see two charts on the top half) W2K knows you have to CPU's.
