Hi all,

i recently finished my build:

i9700k coffee lake 1151 LGA 3.6ghz OEM

Z-390-A Mobo

MSI RTX 2060 Super 8gb

16gb RAM White Corsair 3600 MHz

WD Black 500gb NVME M.2

White H500i Platinum Liquid Cooler (CPU)

it appears on both Userbenchmark : 78.8% (way below expectations)
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/22175227

Geekbench 5:
1011
Single-Core Score

6032
Multi-Core Score

I bought this literally 2 days ago so have 14 day return policy.

is the CPU really that bad or just that i am comparing vs lots of people who have overclocked?

thanks for any feedback :)

Welcome to the forums my friend!

Firstly, I would generally say don't worry about benchmarks, as one point you've stated is you aren't necessarily comparing apples to apples. But on top of that, ultimately, we see far too many people get wound up around benchmarks when there was never a problem to begin with.

However what I will state, is the reason for your 9700K appearing to be so "low performing" is that it would seem it isn't turbo boosting correctly, so you may want to verify that you have this enabled in the BIOS, and also verify what CPU core temperatures you are reaching under load, which may be preventing it from boosting correctly.

Let me know if you want me to screenshot any links/relevant details.

i set optimised settings to XMP and also turboboost was already enabled so no need.

just running aida64 now.

Max temp under full load was 55 celcius.
