Hello,

I just purchased 2 12TB seagate drives and neither are showing in BIOS or disk management.

I have updated my BIOS.

I have 2 10TB WD and 2 4 TB WD drives that all show up np.
I have used the same cable and same port to test and only the new drives do not show up.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions as I have done everything I can think of and find it unbelievable that both drives are DOA.

Thank you.

You might be able to cover/insulate/disable Pin3 on the drive's power connector with a tiny piece of Scotch tape cut to slightly over pin width with a razor blade... (or, the linked article implies a molex to SATA power adapter, which skips Pin3 anyway, will effectively take care of it for you...)

Sorry for taking so long.

I was able to get a molex to sata cable but that didnt do anything.

As for the tape, I paid a lot of money for these hard drives and I feel I shouldn't have to resort to such measures.

Is this a common occurrence? This is standard for seagate drives? My WD 10 tbs work just fine.

Im thinking I should just return them and get more WD.

If there is anything else I could try please let me know.

Thank you.

This is a universal ATA standard. It affects all HDD and SSD manufacturers. Some WD/HGST models are similarly affected, others aren't.

I just wanted to give you all an update for those interested.

I sent both drives back for warranty and just got confirmation that both drives were indeed faulty and that I will be getting a refund. What are the odds?

Thanks again for the help.
