First of all, specs:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
MB: ASRock AB350M Pro4
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080
RAM: 32 GB (2x16) DDR4 3000
Monitor(s): 2x ASUS VG248QE 24" 144hz

Monday night I went to bed and everything on my computer was working fine. On Tuesday, I woke up and wasn't getting a signal to one of my two monitors. Basically, the power button on the monitor would light up and it would say "Displayport" on screen, then after a few seconds it completely fades to black and says "No Signal". In my eyes, this pretty much shows that the signal is being detected but there is something that's preventing it from fully going through.

I've tried to mess with the "Display Settings" on the Windows desktop, as well as the Nvidia control panel. It shows both monitors being detected in both cases. In the Nvidia control panel, I can see both displays, and when I try to select the monitor that's not getting a signal (check the box), the computer pauses for a second and says "Apply" for a brief moment. However, the box never actually gets the check mark and then the apply button disappears. In "Display Settings", there is a "1" and "2", showing that both monitors are detected. The "2" is smaller than the "1" and even though I can see both displays from here, when I hit "Detect" or "Identify", it doesn't manage to truly find the second display even though there is a "2" there.

For the time being, I have my second monitor set up through HDMI which is quite a bummer considering HDMI doesn't output 144hz. My main monitor is still hooked up to the last of the 3 Displayport's and is functioning fine.

I'm just super confused because it seems like a signal is detected but can't fully go through. Is there any kind of troubleshooting I can do? I have a hard time believing that my GPU is fried because it's not like there is absolutely no signal being detected.

Really appreciate any help.

Solution

Try reseating the GPU into its slot, maybe it came loose.

Well, first things first. Check to make sure your GPU is seated in the slot correctly, and try new DP cables, maybe there bad.

Yes I've tried just about every combination, and I get no display. Like I said, the power button on the monitor lights up for a few seconds, I see "Displayport" on the screen, followed by "No Signal" a few seconds later...

Can do, I haven't checked either one of these things yet but I have tried moving around the DP cables. I'll test it out and report back.
