I have a monitor hooked up to mobo (Asus Z170 Pro Gaming) and one (main) on gpu (Nvidia GTX 760). I have had no output from the gpu monitor despite having set default display to pie in bios (Advanced mode->Advanced->System Agent (SA) Configuration->Graphics Configuration->Primary Display)
Please help.

Solution

Pull the card and try with just the built-in display and make sure that works. Then, install the drivers for your card (Generally, a GPU is going to boot with basic drivers so you can install it, but that's not always the case.)

I think you can only have either the discrete *or* the internal gpu enabled (not both at the same time)... try disconnecting the monitor from the motherboard after setting the bios to discrete and rebooting... I have a feeling if you leave a screen attached to the motherboard it will default to the integrated gpu...

[strike]Note I'd need to know make / model of the motherboard to help further...[/strike] Sorry read your message again haha... anyways let me know if that helps! Also one other thought, I'm fairly sure the GTX 760 needs an external power connector to function, just checking you have this plugged into the card?

Exactly what cdrkf said. It's pretty much always an either/or situation, with the built-in output taking precedence. If you want more than one monitor on your machine, you'll need to use multiple outputs one your card. That model generally has more than one. Depending on the manufacturer, they might not be the same kind of outputs, but that's not a deal-breaker. You might have to go with HDMI for one monitor and DVI for the other, or some combination involving DisplayPort. Cables are cheap.
