2 errors keep appearing randomly

i will be as exact as i can: Every so often (mostly random times) but mostly when my pc has been on *stand-by* for a while, but still random.

I keep getting these errors (windows 8.1):
APC_INDEX_MISMATCH and
BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO

I have looked all over the net to find what these errors are, and all i could find is that they BOTH point to corrupt, or missing data/bad installs etc but that's all i can find.

Although this does make sense because last week my pc wouldn't finish loading (windows would try to load, but try to do an *infinite* repair. when the repair was completed, it would load with *dos* and say stuff like (your pc couldn't repair because you may have strong malware) etc.

I poked around inside my case to see if anything was wrong/overheating. I found that the fan on my GFX card (Radeon r7 240) will not work anymore, and also that the cable to my OS drive (C Drive) was lose... after sorting the cable out i can now use my pc, but since then i keep getting the above errors at random times. Is there anything i can do to fix this (appart from spending 6-800£ which i do not have, for a new pc?) thank you

EDIT: i also forgot to say, when it did the repair the other week (or tried to) one of the options was to (reset the UEFI? BIOS) which i did by going into my *digital* bios and telling it to revert back to defaults, after clicking save, it said *you haven't made any changes, are you sure you want to save and exit?*

Just if you needed more info, cheers

(i also do not have copies of windows because my dad keeps them at his) thank you

Solution
Copy them to a server like Microsoft onedrive or Google docs, mark the files as public and post a link to the files.

You should update the bios if your machine is stable. Also check your windows files.
Start cmd.exe as an admin then run
Sfc.exe /scannow

Diism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

so no idea whats wrong, appart from what i already said about my HDD and GFX? well thanks for the assistence, and i will wait for further answeres in case someone knows what the actual cause is (appart from what i already said of course) :)

Computer troubleshooting is rather like a black box unless you know what it is for sure. Sleep/Hibernation itself causes problems, maybe yours. If it is not that,
the effects you describe sound like Windows having issues writing and reading from some config files. Your HDD may be on it's way out. A fresh install will most likely clear these issues, but only for a while.

so i need to grab the OS from my father and buy a new c drive? also last question (which is related)

With my graphics being a radeon 240 (came standard) would a 290 be able to replace it? or is that too powerful for a 360 watt? thanks

360 watts is very low for a PSU, and the quality makes it marginal even now.

An R9 290 will add up to 330w extra load, without having the connectors to hook it up anyways.

You may be able to handle a 150w 960 with the included molex to PCIE, MAYBE.

Honestly if you keep the PSU, I would look at a 750Ti without an extra connector at all.

so... a brand new machine for about $950-1000 in us or £600-800 uk (which i wont have the money for for 3 months) i cant live without my games lol

EDIT:

Thank you for all your advice, i suppose i should consider this closed now?

SECOND EDIT:

How about just buying a new fan for the card i already have? i can clip it into the connector that the original one is using right?

OK... my dad wan'ts to risk blowing my pc up... he is a computer engineer and says a 290 will not blow my pc, he also says i do not need a new HDD or SSD because the random errors are due to the GFX fan not working.

He is the kind of person who will not replace anything even if its his fault (baby-boom grump) thanks for all the help, and i guess i will leave it up to fate and my dad's know how (or lack thereof) . I don't know how to close threads so please can a moderator do so? thanks

Solution
OK, i have found the minidump file, but every program i use to try to read it keeps saying *access denied* etc... I am the admin

Edit: i have also done the sfc scan, but all it does is *begining verification stage* which makes me think there is more than one stage to this? if so, it get's to 100% and then stays there without doing the next stage

EDIT 2: doing the dism.exe/online/cleanup-image/restorehealth CMD says *The online/cleanup-image/restorehealth option is unknown. For more information, refer to the help by running DISM.exe/?*

oh and typing the dism string also gives *Error: 87* in cmd

Update: i typed it with the spaces in the end, and all it comes up with is *Deployment Image Servicing and Management Tool Version: [version number]

Image Version: [version number], but thats all it says

Thanks for all the help. I have looked online about the minidump and how to open it, and i have to download a few things and tinker, but its all *french* to me, i suppose i will just have to wait for my dad to destroy my PC 😛

Final update: It finally ran the DISM repair (good job i left it running) but it said *Error: 307, Something something; was unable to repair ... something. Please restart your system to roll back any changes that were made* i restarted, and then winodws did an update (i turned my updates off the other day)

dism.exe/online/cleanup-image/restorehealth
should be:
dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
must be separated with spaces for each option.

Yes i did realise that, but as i said, after i left it running it finished at 100% and then said *Error: 307 Could not repair... Please restart your system to roll back any changes that were made* Anyway... i am slightly happy now, my dad gave me an *older* card, (ASUS EAH5450) which SHOULD hold until i am able to buy a new one... also, i haven't had any BSOD's since i turned *hibernate/sleep* off I will choose you as the best answer, thanks for both of you, you both helped out :)
