I have a desktop PC with 2 NIC's and 2 ethernet connections, One plugs directly into the modem, and I would like to use that for internet connection, the other plugs into the router, which has some DNS filtering and other things, I would like to use the Modem connection for internet exclusively, while staying connected to the LAN with the router. I'm not sure how to do that though, In network and sharing center (windows 7) It shows both networks connected with access type: internet

Solution
If you are not wanting to bridge the connection and only use the modem for internet and LAN for network resources this shoudld do do this automatically. The router dns wont be able to help you with WAN side, only dns addressing of the computers behind the router.

Is there something that does not work?
