2 GPU not SLI or Crossfire

I am currently building a pc, it is going to be connected to 2 monitors. I don't want my second monitor to take ressources on my primary GPU. Can I plug any graphic card (not SLI or Crossfire ) for my second monitor?

Connect it to the same GPU as for the main monitor, won't reduce performance a bit, unless you game, which you can't, on a dual monitor setup. No need for dual GPUs. Second monitor does not take resources.
