Question 2 GPUs

I'm try to use both GPUs to split the work load without sli . But im not sure as to what I need to do
The two cards are a GTX 1050ti
Its said multi gpu compatible
And a GTX 970 oc

What "Its said multi gpu compatible "? There is software which can use a multi graphics card set up without an SLI bridge, but whether 'it' is one of those we don't know.
