While on my computer, two of my hard drives crashed at the same time, D and E.

When I reboot and go into "Computer" it asks me to format both. When I go into Disk Management, only one of them shows up (D).

My motherboard has 6 ports, and I had 2 spare SATA cords, so I replaced the 2 cords on the 2 HDDs and placed them in a different slot., still only the D drive shows up.

However, earlier I had switched the D and E ports and the E showed up, and D didnt, so this could possibly be because multiple ports went bad? (?)

I went into Testdisk and Gparted on a linux live cd and GParted shows the D drive as "unallocated" and says something about cant stat drive.

When I go into Testdisk, it tells me that the filesystem is damaged and that the sizes might be incorrect (for partition table?)

Currently I'm trying to rebuild the MBR on the D drive, but not sure if it will work.

Also - Is thre anything else I can try to try to get both D and E identified at least?

Solution
Make sure at least 2 ports are working. If the computer says they are healthy, they should be fine. If only the 1 port works, contact the Motherboard maker, they may be able to help you.
It is possible that both ports went bad. Have you tried to test the hard drives on a friends computer or someone else's? If it is saying that the hard drive is bad, I suggest replacing if you have the money. HDDs arent that reliable. Mine one day just stopped working without a warning.

Hmmm I'll have to test it on another one of the 6 ports. I want to retrieve the data thats all. I dont think the harddrive is bad, it says healthy and doesnt seem to have any physical indications of it being bad.. but id rather get the data off of it before I format it and reset everything

To retrieve it, you could always plug the HDDs into another PC to transfer to a disc or another drive, but if only 1 port is working at a time, im not sure what you could do.
