I recently bought a new monitor for my PC, it's an AOC 24 inches.
Before I had a monitor which was some years old.
I used a normal VGA cable for that.
When I had the older screen, I used my TV as an extra monitor besides my PC monitor.
My TV was connected via HDMI.
I have the Packard Bell ixtreme m5140 PC.
It shows on the back that it has 2 HDMI ports.
But I have only been able to use the lowest one on the back of the PC.
Since I now run my new monitor in HDMI, I can't use my TV because it runs HMDI too and I don't get why only one of the HDMI ports works.
Please help me!

VGA and DVI only transmit video not audio, so unless you don't need to transmit audio i would recommend just using DVI to connect monitor and GPU and HDMI for your TV as you have done all along, there's no other difference between DVI and HDMI
