Hi everyone,

I am in the market for a new PC and was looking for help with my situation. I was looking at either getting an ASUS pb278q or 2 Benq Gl2450hm. If I were to get the ASUS, I would have to downgrade form an i7 3770k to a 3570k. Also, I will be getting 2 gtx 680's with the benq, but I will have to downgrade to 2 gtx 670's if I get the ASUS.

Thanks in advance.

This monitor would give you the 2560x1440 and save you $100 from the Asus.
I can see your problem with wanting the 2560x1440 and I went through a similar issue a while back when I was looking for 2560x1600 and 120hz and trying to select which would be the better, although it wasn't about money but just diplay options.
The Benq model your looking at is highly rated and I'm guessing that your primary interest is gaming?
There is one thing that you want to consider with a two moniotor set up and that is aiming down the sight will be in te middle of the bezel and could be an issue on FPS games. Ifd you go with the two monitors is a third down the road an option? If it is then I would go with the BenQ , if not then I would go with the Asus.
Two GTX 670's in SLI is almost as good as two 680's in SLI here is very little difference in the benchmarks that I have seen to say that the 680's is a must have over two 670's. Going from the 3770k to the 3570k will not be that much either as you can overclock.
There is one important thing to consider in all this and that is , if this is a gaming rig then once you hit 60 fps there is no noticeable difference in the gameplay if your at 80 fps or 100 fps. So a computer with the i5-3570k and two GTX 670's will be a great gaming rig and you will be able to play any game on ultra and get over 60 fps.

Thanks for the reply.
Firstly, my primary interest is in gaming, but I might do a little bit of photo editing. That also leads into the CPU problem. If I have an i5 will my editing be good. Also, another option I have is to geta Gtx 690 but with the Benq and an i5. Do you think having SLI or a 690 is overkill on a 1920x1080, because that is the only reason I might get a 2560x1440 monitor. Another problem I have is that I live in Australia, and can only get parts from here or NCIX Canada. Thanks in advance :)

Here is an option for you to use in setting up a computer that will do both gaming and photo editing.
If you went with the monitor that I linked and you were able to get it for $100 less than the Asus model, you could use that money saved and get the 3770k. Here at the Newegg site there is a $100 price difference between the two cpus.
You could then go with the two GTX 670's and as I stated in the previous post they will perform almost identical to two 680's and this way you get the 3770k for your photo editing and the two 670's for gaming.
Of course this all depends on you being able to get the Doublesight monitor for $100 less than the Asus one and still have the 2560x1440 resolution.

If you go with two GTX 680's on a 1920x1080 montor , it's not really overkill it's just getting a large fps number at any game on any setting.
