Long time lurker, first time poster, thank you to the community this place is awesome!

MSI X-58 Pro-E
Intel I7 X980 3.33
SLI GTX 660
Windows 7 64 Bit
Birth: March 2011 :)

2 of my 6 ram slots have stopped reading the ram. I have 6 slots filled with 2gb ddr3.

Windows memory test did not find any errors in a basic check of the memory.

How do I determine if the ram is bad? How do I determine that the motherboard is bad?

I'm leaning towards a motherboard failure because of the memory test not finding any results. I am avid gamer, should I be overly concerned of loosing 1/3 of my memory?

No they don't really work differently between (in the way that you are talking about, as obviously all architectures work differently) Most of the time its the motherboard which prefers which ever channel and i have only seen triple channel bus's on mini-ITX systems.

Yes that is correct.

It is Intel, isn't supposed to work better in 3's?

Ok that's the part that I didn't understand. Dual and Triple channels work differently between AMD or Intel?

Thank you for you're answers. I'm not going to stress about the loss unless another slot fails.
