Hi all,

I have a probem which seems to have got progressively worse recently. I have a Belkin N300 router connected to 2 pcs. 1 Win 7 desktop (wirelessly) - running fine, 1 XP desktop (wired) running slow.

I use the XP desktop mainly as a storage device to stream content to an Xbox 360.

Internet and streaming are both slow on the XP desktop.

Any suggestions are sincerely appreciated.

Thanks

Go into the properties of your desktop network adaptor and ensure that it is set to 100mb full duplex mode of operation, and not Auto or 10mb half duplex. It is possible (but not probable) that the adaptor is either auto negotiating to 10mb half duplex or is set to this speed.

Looking at the Belkin website for your router it doesn't tell me what the routers LAN ports are set to by default (AUTO/100/10), just - Ethernet 10Base-T/100Base-TX (4)....however standard 10base-T ethernet is half duplex and is to be avoided if at all possible.
