Okay first of all, I'm looking to buy a graphics card. The prices for them are a bit weird/ridiculous in my country especially for the higher range cards, so I've narrowed it down to 4 cards that I think are good enough for my purpose (playing most games on fairly high settings at 1920x1080 resolution)

These are the ones I've found

GTX 960 2GB

R9 285 2GB

R9 270X 2GB

and Radeon 7970 3GB

Some people are telling me the Radeon 7970 is the best out of those cards, yet on the website I'm looking on it is the cheapest (significantly cheaper than the GTX 960). Is it really better than the other ones for my purposes?

A second question, I'm also looking to buy another 4 GBs of ram. Does it matter which ram I buy for gaming or should I just go for the cheapest one?

Solution
It's good to have 2 x 4gb of ram and both sticks should be identical; preferably bought as a dual channel bundle.

7970 gives you more "raw power" but you'll find that all AMD video cards have compatibility issues with games because game developers make games with Nvidia/ Intel in mind.

I'm an AMD fan so I'll say get R9 285; but I know what I faced with my 7970 so I'll say get the GTX 960.

Is the difference really that big? I know sometimes you need to wait a bit longer with AMD cards for drivers, but still...

Keep in mind the 7970 is cheaper by a good 70-80$ where i'm buying from. Like I said, I have no problem shelling out the full amount for the Gtx 960 if the difference I would see from it is big enough to warrant that.

The 280x is a rebranded 7970, nearly identical, although the 280X would support Mantle which would help with games like Battlefield 4 and other supported Mantle games in the future. Having the 3GB of VRAM would be more helpful other the other cards with just 2GB.

Given the fact that AMD (somewhat) stabilized its drivers the last few months and the huge price difference that you mentioned, I'd stick with what Neur0nauT is saying and go for the 280X :D .
