2 Questions: Hyundai Q17 and DVI-I

hi all, first i want to say that tom's LCD reviews are the best on the net. I love reading them and can't wait for the next review... now for my questions:
1)Is it true that the Hyundai Imagequest Q17 now comes with a Samsung panel and not a Hydis one?
2)A DVI-I features 24 pins necessary for digital operation and 5 analog pins that can transmit an analog video signal. But i don't quite understand what is the use of these 5 analog pins? is it to connect a CRT to a DVI output? with an adapter? or what?

From what I remember, the Q17 actually had several different models (e.g. Q17A, Q17B, Q17S) so it was hard to tell which one was the Hydis and which ones weren't. I don't remember what other panel(s) the others used, but probably either a Samsung or an AUO.

As for your DVI question, a DVI-I(ntegrated) contains pins for both DVI-D(igital) and DVI-A(nalog). The DVI-D is the connector used for LCD monitors, while DVI-A is used for HDTVs and some CRT monitors. In short, yes, the extra 5 pins are used primarily to provide a signal to analog sources, which may need a converter if the particular source does not have a DVI-A input. Most manufacturers of video cards put the DVI-I connector on their cards to cover all their bases.

1)yeah it says here: http://www.tomshardware.com/display/20031105/lcd-01.html that there are a few models (Q17A, Q17B, Q17S) but it says nothing about a different panel. But someone told me that they changed it, so if anyone knows about the current panel please tell me.
2)thanks. this page: http://www.datapro.net/products/1148.html helped me understand. i heard of it but never actually saw a DVI-A connection, that's why i wasn't sure how a DVI-I can carry an analog signal. BTW, is there a difference if my LCD is connected digitally (DVI-D output to DVI-D/I input) or with an integrated signal (DVI-I to DVI-I)? or is it still pure digital in both cases?

There would be no difference if you connected a DVI-D LCD to a DVI-I video card using either a DVI-I or DVI-D cable. You typrically don't find a DVI-I connection on a LCD, since it doesn't need the analog component. DVI-I connections are mainly used on video cards to help it connect to different kinds of devices.
