2 Ram slots total can I upgrade from 4GB to 8GB

My AMD Athlon II (tm) x2 has only 2 ram slots which 4GB total can I upgrade the memory to 8GB?

Well upgrading RAM can be tricky. If I am not mistaken, those CPUs take DDR3 (you want to research your exact model before making decisions). Also, it depends on the speed as well (1866,2133, etc). I generally getting a set, that you know there is no mistake. You can try to use a another 4GB, but if it is slower than the one you have, the overall system will perform at whatever speed is slower. Think "you are only as strong as your weakest link."

It is probable, however to be sure, look for the model number of the motherboard and then look up the specs, it will tell you the total RAM supported. If you have 1 stick of 4GB then you can get another one of those (try to get the exact same RAM). If both slots are filled then you need to get an 8GB kit consisting of (2) 4GB sticks.

Thanks, I took pictures of the system while I was cleaning it. Of the 4 GB of Ram it is utilizing about 3.78 of the RAM probably due to Windows 10 installed from Windows 7.

Are you on Windows 32-bit or 64-bit? If you are on 32-bit, upgrading will not matter as it only allows a maximum of 4GB of RAM.

64, I have to get DDR2

DDR2? You may want to consider getting a new motherboard/CPU. It may cost you some more, but trying to find DDR2 may not be easy.
