2 Routers

Hello this is quite a weired question, OK this is what i have

a linksys wired cable router

a sky/netgear wireless ADSL router

OK i have connected them up, my linksys is the main router so i connected a cable from that to the wireless one and using that as a kind of swich, i then set the same network IP eg 192.168.1.xxx so its on the same mask, i have the normal set to start at 100 and the wireless to start at 109 to stop conflict issues but when a computer connects doesnt seem to make any differnce. when i connect to the wireless the internet goes through and so on fine, but i cant connect anouther wireless to it or sometimes the cable ones connected loose the intrenet.

any ideas why it is conflicting on the assign network IP?

Your post is somewhat vague as it doesn't clearly indicate what you're trying to achieve. Since you can't have two simultaneous Internet connections with that setup, I'll assume that you have a single Internet connection (cable or ADSL).

You need 2 networks to make it work. You need to use IP address 192.168.1.0/24 on the main router and 192.168.2.0/24 on the secondary router. Then assign a static IP address to the secondary router and set the default gateway to the main router. On the main router, route all traffic destined to network 192.168.2.0 to the secondary router.

Example:

Router 1
IP address: 192.168.1.1
Default gateway: IP address provided by your ISP (Internet port)
Route: 192.168.2.0 mask 255.255.255.0 to 192.168.1.2

Router 2
IP address: 192.168.2.1
Default gateway: Static IP address 192.168.1.2 (Internet port)

got it all sorted read anouther post, i just turned DCHP off and works great now apart from crap signel from the sky router
