I ordered an i5-6600k and after it arrived I realized I made a mistake and that it did not come with a stock fan. I went to Best Buy and all they had was the corsair H100i v2.

At this point, I was in over my head and spent hours trying to get the thing to fit. After some poor mechanical work, and after hours of time, I can only get 2 of the 4 pump screws to fasten to the CPU bracket. The pump, however, seems to be very sturdy.

Should I carry on like this or spend hours trying to get the other two screws to fit? What if I can't?

The thing is, mate, the instructions detailed in the manual shipped with the H100i v2 unit states that you can get all 4 screws to mate with the motherboard backplate. Have you made sure the stand offs used are that for the LGA115x/1366(parts labelled B) socket and that you've fastened the thumb screws(parts labelled E) to help mount the CPU/pump block in a criss-cross fashion?

Yes, I used the proper stand offs for my LGA 1151 socket. The problem is that the plastic back-plate is rather flimsy and one of the back-plate pins is messed up to the point where the connection between the pin and the backplate isn't secure.

The problem is, I can't get two of the thumb screws to catch to the stand-offs no matter what I do. I think the problem originates from the fact that my back-plate isn't in perfect condition anymore. No amount of pressure or reconfiguration of the screws has worked for me.

In an ideal world I would have been able to install this correctly, but I am wondering if 2 screws might be secure enough since the pump doesn't budge much even under a significant amount of applied physical force from my hand.
