2 Way SLI GTX 970 or 1 GTX 980?

A single 980 is 10% better than single 970. SLI 970s is 50-60% better than single 970, so you'd get around 30-50% performance increase over single 980.

Upside ..... 970 SLI will toast the 980 in performance.

Downside .... on 1150 platform, there's no where to go from there.....can't add another 970.

Since the 5xx series, SLI on the 2nd or 3rd tier card has always been the best bang for the buck.

You could check reviews on Techpowerup.com
At 1080p, they're quoting a 28% performance lead for the 970 SLI over the 980.

If I am reading the charts right, the 980 improved 88% in 2 way SLI

Today, AFAIK, the 970 exceeds 40 fps in every game out there at 1920, "very high" settings and 4x AA .... but lot of big titles coming out and ...are ya satisfied with 40 +fps ?
