Hello,

Currently, I've got a ViewSonic G810. I picked it up at a computer show, hoping to squeeze a couple of years of life out of it, but I ended up only getting one, it seems. Now, I have this horizontal flicker. It's hard to describe, but the whole picture sometimes jumps or narrows horizontally, spiking and fluttering. It's gotten progressively worse over the past couple of months, and I'm assuming that means something in the monitor is going. It only seems to really do it when it's particularly cold in the room; where my computer is, is an addition on a very old house, and there's no central heating / cooling, I do everything with a fan or a block heater. Once I get it heated up, and the ambient is about 20-22 celsius, it doesn't do it nearly so much. In any case, I think this monitor is gradually on its way out, and I'm in the market for a replacement. However, I'm rather deficient on knowledge.

I live in Toronto, and I'm willing to spend up to about 450 canadian. I'd really like something in the 20"-21" range, but information on good crts is getting sketchy to find. I'm also not sure about brands, or anything of the sort. This ViewSonic's been good to me, though. I've been looking at the G90 and the G225 models from Viewsonic, but if there are alternatives that are cheaper, I'm all ears. I do a lot of heavy-duty gaming (battlefield 2, Source games, etc), so I'm looking for something biased towards that end of the spectrum, in terms of quality.

Normally, I just go to ComputerFest, but it's shows have been cancelled in Toronto because of some 'partnership' dispute, so I'm left with little alternative.

Any advice you kind folks could give me, on brands, good substitutes, even good canadian retailers, would be appreciated.
