So apparently blizzard lied, when they said they were not increasing the shadowlands requirements. For gaming, a 10900k is overkill. A 10600k is plenty, with a 10700k being ok for a bit of system longevity, multi-threaded wise. Also with RTX 3000 coming, you are going to want to hold off on the GPU purchase. I threw in a 2080s, just for pricing purposes.

I agree with this build, but if not in a rush, I would actually hold a bit cause nvidia launch is really close and you really wana wait for reviewers to test and see if the pcie 4 is need it or not (porbably not but perhaps it does not hurt to wait a bit).

For now the only platform that support pcie 4 is AMD 3rd gen (B550 and X 570 chipsets).

what if i switch the motherboard to a ASUS ROG Maximus XII Hero Z490 (WiFi 6) LGA 1200 (Intel 10th Gen) ATX Gaming Motherboard (14+2 Power Stages, DDR4 4800+, 5Gbps LAN, Intel LAN, Bluetooth v5.1, Triple M.2, Aura Sync) (399.99) price

Perhaps you should consider AMD, 12 cores, for less money and it's awesome at productivity software as well gaming.

Also has the advantage of 4.0 PCIe which in the future for storage I can see playing a big role as well on the next gen GPUs.

I do not recommend Asus due to their terrible customer service, along with MSI, for that matter. I see 0 value in a $400 motherboard, regardless. That money is better spent elsewhere.

I only bought one MSI mobo in my life, when the product arrived home the chipset heatsink was loosed of the mobo and running free inside the box. MSI did nothing for me, luckily the retailer which I knew for years agree to replace the board for any other I would want from any brand at the first phone call (I guess MSI wasn't in fault here anyways).
Then I got this gigabyte in my signature for ym Ryzen 5 3600, I made a question regarding the BIOS on the gigabyte forums and thier support channel. That was 1 year ago, Im still waiting for an answer.

So I guess their support depends a lot on which country in the wolrd you are.

I do agree on the 0 value beyong the ~$290 range. Im guessing if high priced mobos exist is because someone buy them lol.

I had bought a B550 Gaming Plus, for a friend's build. The top M.2 slot didn't work, but the bottom one did. I contacted MSI support. They told me the top slot only supports PCI-E 4.0 drives, despite their spec sheets saying otherwise. The friend already had a Crucial P1, so we reused it. Talking to some other B550 MSI owners their boards were working with their 3.0 drives, just fine. Took the board back to Microcenter, the following weekend, and got a direct replacement. The replacement board, the drive worked, no issue. I called MSI out, on their lie, and no response whatsoever. Must be trained in the same way their other reps are, that harass youtube reviewers.

Yeah that sucks and Asus is worst, I do agree with you on that.

It really sucks when this huge brands don't have a decent support team, they don't realize thats more important than any publicity /advertising you can do about your product.
They don't realize when someone have a bad experience with a product and the support does not help, that someone will stop buying thier products and will become bad influence to others when they ask about this brand.

That case doesn't have a slot for the DVD drive that I know of.

Under budget. Same motherboard that I'm using with 0 issues.

If you just must have the 10 core processor these are better options for a ton less that the 10900K.

The new Comet Lake CPU's are a fine lot and I understand the single core performance is a bit better, but there are alternatives. You can build a powerful Ryzen system including an RTX 2080 Super with your budget. The video card should be available in a week or so.
