$2000 gaming rig

Hello, first time poster, building a gaming computer that'll keep me happy for a few years, any suggestions would help.. This is what I've put together so far..

Intel I-7 3770K
MSI Z77 MPOWER
Corsair Vengeance 8GB x4
EVGA GTX 670 FTW 4GB x2 for sli
Samsung SSD 500GB
Western Digital VelociRaptor 1TB
Seasonic Platinum 1000W
Nzxt Phantom Full Tower
Noctua NH- D14

This computer will be used for everything.

I already have the following..
Mouse - Logitech G500
Keyboard - Das Professional
Monitor - Dell 30 inch
Headset - Steel Series Siberia V2
Speakers - Bose Companion 5

Any suggestions to help improve without drastically going higher up in price would be appreciated, thank you.

is it only for gaming? if it is gaming pc, i5 cant be wrong.... i7 has advantage only on pro software. are you from US/canada?

I plan on using it mainly for gaming but will do just about everything else on this as well, im from california

32GB of RAM is useless unless you're doing professional rendering. 16GB is overkill but not crazy (2x 8GB). Get low profile or the DH-14 could block the closet ram.

Those video cards are going to sound like hair dryers. Way too freaking loud. Get anything with two or three fans (windforce or msi lighning). If you need a lot of VRAM, go with 7970GHz cards. 3GB is plenty.

A 750W PSU is enough for SLI plus and OC CPU.

If you have 500GB SSD for OS and every program you can purchase on the market today, you don't need a velociraptor hdd. A nice WD black or Seagate Barracuda is more appropriate.

Ok going with 16gb of ram,
Gonna drop down to the ax850 psu
And the velociraptor to a wd black.. Is the caviar overkill too? Lol

No sweat. Some people do an SSD plus a WD Green drive since the only thing going on there is media. Movies stream as well from a green as they do a black (and greens use less power).

One other thing to consider is exactly how much room you need for programs. A 500GB SSD is huge. I have OS and two huge games installed (full BF3 and LotRO) and I have 65GB free. Can at least consider dropping down to a 256, but if you have the money that 500 should last forever.

I was also doing more research and came across the 7970? I think thats the final thing im torn about..

Hard drive size is debatable. I live in a rural area where (somewhat) fast internet speeds have not really been available til recently. In order to avoid having an urge to play a certain game but having to wait a long time (overnight) for the download/installation to complete I bought a Samsung Spinpoint F3 1tb so I could just keep games installed all the time. That hard drive is for Steam & a few other games only & it's over half full. If however you have fast internet for installations and/or only play a few games then it's no worry for you anyways.

The 7970s are appealing for the price and the vram, plus you get stack of free games if you buy two of them.
