Hi All,

Its been 5 years since I last asked the forum here for build advice, the advice I received here was terrific and my system is still running strong. Very excited to finally be able to start a new build. I just purchased a EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 DT, so I have around $1250 remaining to fill out the rest of the build. Thanks in advanced!

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: Within the next month

Budget Range: $1250, already a 1080TI

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, VR, web surfing, light photoshop

Are you buying a monitor: No

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Any is fine, however, I get 5% off at Amazon, so all thing being equal, I would probably use them.

Location: California, USA

Parts Preferences: Any

Overclocking: Yes, I will attempt

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe.

Your Monitor Resolution: I use a projector which is currently 1920x1080, will be upgrading to a 4K projector probably sometime late next year (I hope...)

No, those Krait motherboards are terrible. They may have better RGB, but are prone to long term failure. MSI makes a lot of good motherboards, but the Krait series aren't one of them.

Previous generations of the Krait motherboards have shown to fail hard overclocking tests due to poor capacitors. That is why they are not recommended. Aesthetics like RGB are usually one of the last things we emphasize in builds.

Agreed. Can you recommend a good one to him based on your experience?
