Hello All !

I am looking at upgrading my old PC which was built around 2014 if I'm not mistaken.

The current build has a

EVGA FTW 1080
Intel I5-6500K
16 GB Ram
EVGA 650W Gold
be Quiet Dark Rock 3

My current budget for a new PC is $2000, but I want to be as efficient with my money as possible. I have been out of the loop in terms of PC parts for a while, so I am completely in the dark regarding what is worth the money.

The main and purpose of the PC is for gaming with light school work.

What I would ideally like (but not required) is a 3080 , AIO cooler, an Nvidia GPU since I do have a 1440p 144hz Dell Monitor, and future proofing to the best of my ability (such as DDR5 compatibility),

If I could use the old case that would be nice to save some money, but if a new one is better that is fine too 😀

I do not care for RGB whatsoever, so I could do with it or without it. Ideally, I would like to purchase everything from Amazon, but if items are cheaper elsewhere that is perfectly fine. Thank you all in advance for the assistance 😀

There's a few components on here from Newegg but only because the prices were too good to pass on.

What is your current cpu?
I do not think there is a I5-6500K.
Perhaps you mean 6600k.
What is the make/model of your case?

For gaming at 1440P your first concern is a good graphics card.
I might think 3070 class.
But with gpu prices getting back to normal, and a glut of 3080 cards on the market, I think you should be able to get one for $800 or so.
Such a card will want a 750w psu:

The 3000 series cards can have high power demand spikes so 850w is not out of order.

On the processor, single thread performance is the most important metric.
There is a spectrum of increasing turbo boost capability as you get more expensive processors.
I think a I5-12400 or a I5-12600K would be more than enough.
Here are two reviews:
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-core-i5-12400-review

Neither of these would require a 360 or larger aio cooler.
A good dual tower air cooler will do the job as well as a 280 aio, minus the issues. Actually, I would first try your DRP3. Be quiet should send you a lga1700 mounting kit for free.
