Hi. I always built my systems myself with whatever components I want. But I just thought, why not ask, maybe somebody has some better ideas.. so. I want some general-purpose PC (partly for software development, partly for simracing/gaming in VR). It looks like what I want would cost rougly 2K but I would be glad to make it cheaper. The components I'm looking at:

i9 9900k
Samsung 970 Pro 1TB
Some good motherboard to support this all (i'm a noob in motherboards)
Good modular PSU (mine might have died so i decided to upgrade the whole system)
Good case for a PC so 320mm+ GPU will fit
ASUS Strix OC RTX 2070 (I think 2080 doesn't worth it and I don't have the money for 2080TI)
Some good cooling system, maybe water based
RAM for 32 Gb

Get a 390 motherboard, 370 boards would will need an update for the i9 9900k.
Definitely get some good AOI when you can't build or afford a custom water cooling.
Use good fans for your airflow, this one is really important.
I also would suggest the 2080 maybe, but it depends on what you want to do with the system, e.g. 4k streaming/gaming, dual monitors both 4k etc.

is 2080 will be worth over 2070? in comparison there seems to be little difference. plus I know that 2080 will heat more, and right now I am happy owner of 1070 gpu that's rather cool (pun intended).

regarding gpu usage - mostly VR (oculus rift), sometimes maybe triple 1440p monitors, project cars 2 and alike hi-end gpu racing sims with supersampling (x2.0) for VR
(right now my 1070 doesn't let me do supersampling and I need to put graphics to low to get stable 90fps)

can you suggest some good AOI? I'm new to water cooling and thinking to just use my old cooler master evo cooler, but had a thought that since i'm upgrading to something cool maybe would be nice to upgrade to water-cooling if it's going to bring it's benefits (is it really good in comparison with a fan?)

If you want to make it cheaper you can, AMD is a very good option to intel, perhaps not as fast in gaming but the money you save you can actually buy a 2080 with that money. But for very decent gaming this is amazing PC.

This is better configuration for multi monitor setup.
