2000 Server Configuration

I need some help wit Server 2000 installation. I want this to be the only server [or DC], use Active Directory, and have a nice little 5-user client/server network. However, whenever I install AD it asks for a DNS name. It seems as though the DNS name turns out to be my Server's Domain name. So, if I say the DNS name is qq.ww.org, then the domain name is qq.ww.org. Am I doing this right? HELP!!!

That's right. Active Directly is tied very closely to DNS. You can't run AD without DNS installed. Just remember to point the DNS back to the server.

AD depends on DNS for its naming scheme, so you need a domain name. Before you run dcpromo make sure the dns settings for the DC points to itself.
The name of the domain does not matter much in your situation, so choose whatever you like. When AD is installed you can configure the DNS server to forward to your ISP's DNS.
