Hi Everyone,

I am a long time lurker and reader of this forum and really appreciate all of the advice everyone gives. I recently decided its time for a new comp since my current computer is about 8 years old (i5-2500k with nvidia 1070). I am interested in primarily gaming with some VR gaming. Thank you in advance!

Approximate Purchase Date: within the next month
Budget Range: 2k to 2.5k USD

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Games....light web surfing

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes - I still have Windows 7 so probably time to get to 10
Please note that if you're using an OEM license of Windows, you will need a new one when buying a new motherboard.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
any is fine

Location: Denver, CO USA

Parts Preferences: I am leaning toward Intel. I would also love a 2080 GPU

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: no

Your Monitor Resolution: 1440p not sure if I want 4k yet. Maybe at 144hz

Additional Comments: RGB for the case would be fun but not required

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: As much as possible I would prefer to play as many games as possible at fast settings for as long as I can (who doesnt....)

If your windows 7 key is OEM and it doesn't work just call Microsoft support and they will give you a new key to use for windows 10. I've done it a few times with older OEM keys and they sometimes grumble about it but always hand it over. Usually takes about 20-30 minutes.
