Hello all, with new games like Far Cry 5 & upcoming games like Anthem, I'm afraid my current cards will not run them in high settings. My current build was built in Feb 2015 and consists of the following....
Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3GHz
Asus X99-A LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4 2400
Corsair RM1000 1000W GOLD
Sapphire Radeon R9 290X 8GB GDDR5 PCI-E Tri-X OC Version in (x2 XFire)
Not trying to get the best or most powerful card to date but good enough to last until 2020 since my current CPU is only 28 lanes. I'm thinking the Sapphire Radeon NITRO+ RX 580 8GB GDDR5 (x2 in XFire) will do the job spending close to $940 w/ shipping & tax. After doing a little research it seems the GTX 1080 is the better choice but dang, one card cost the same as two RX 580s (at least on Newegg anyways).
So I ask....will my current cards keep me going until 2020 or should I upgrade two steps down from the Vega series or cross over to NVidia?
Other Thoughts: Just in case if Nvidia is the majority rules in favor then how about this card? EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW2 GAMING iCX 8GB GDDR5X. Yeah when I saw the price I was like WTF but why the big difference in price here?
