Good afternoon,
I'm looking to build a new gaming rig fit for 1440p gaming at high/ultra quality. I have so far selected these components and I would love to hear some of your guys' suggestions and comments (I'm not that well versed in selecting the best components and have previously only build one pc before)

The components I have so far selected are:
Intel Core I5-9600K
Msi RTX 2070
16Gb DDR (2x8gb Hyper X DDR 4@2933mhz)
WD 3tb HDD
512gb SanDisk SSD
Gigabyte Z390 Ud motherboard
Corsair Cp 550w PSU

The budget I have left over for potential upgrades is around 200 euros

Thanks in advance for the responses and suggestions, really appreciate it!

I would change the MB and the PSU defiantly.

Go with any of the AORUS Z390 MB's and as was mentioned a Seasonic FOCUS Plus 550W or 650W.

The MB you picked is NOT a good MB, it's LOW END and the VRMS are not great at all. All of the LOW end Z390 MB's suck, that's everyone of them.

Also as was said maybe a 9700K would be better.

Aside from what's been mentioned before and that I prefer the 8700k over the 9700k, I'd suggest a better SSD than a SanDisk, maybe Crucial or if you can afford it Samsung.
I also really don't like the RTX 2070 at the price they're asking for it, It's not that much faster than the RTX 2060 and costs significantly more.
Either go all in for the RTX 2080 or save some money towards other things and get a RTX 2060.

At 1440P the 2070 can make a noticeable difference over the 2060 in a lot of games at High and Ultra settings.

Especially with the newer AAA games.

They're the same chip, they have the same boards. The 2060 just has 384 cuda cores and 2gb vram less. That and nearly 200€ less cost too.
And lets be real here, you couldn't tell which is which if you just had a game running on 2 monitors without a fps counter.

Depends on the game. ;)

In some games that extra FPS can make a good bit of difference, especially in the newer AAA titles like SOTTR, Metro Exodus, FAR CRY New Dawn etc. Once you crank up the settings at 1440P every added FPS matters. 10 to 20 FPS can make a difference in gameplay.

In the other games that they get a zillion FPS anyway, no it doesn't matter.

At which point you'd probably be better off with a Ryzen 5 2600 and a RTX 2080.

IF you cap the FPS. There is very few times you would do that.

I believe he was talking at a 1440P 144Hz monitor anyway.

So we are back to what I already said, wouldn't be smart at all to do that.

Waste of money.

Ideal would be a 9700K and RTX 2080 for 1440P, I don't think he has the budget for that however.

Optimal would be a 9900K and RTX 2080Ti.

Thank you very much for the responses and help everyone! Many thanks especially to you Finstar for the PcPartPicker link! This has definitely given me much food for thought. What I will do is what you all seem to unanimously agree upon and upgrade the PSU to the Seasonic gold.

The budget I stated is not fixed, but somewhat flexible, however. If you all believe that spending more on a 2080(TI) and a higher-end processor would make the rig far more cost efficient than that would also be very much possible. But in general, I was wondering if this graphics card upgrade and going for an I7 8700/9700K does indeed provide as much of an improvement as far as gaming is concerned that it would be worth paying the extra money?

Something like this would be pretty much ideal, could change the CPU to a 9700K also if you wanted.
