alright folks, its 2020 and taxes are right around the corner. Im looking to build a new machine that will dominate 1440p gaming at around 2,000. I have been looking at different parts and i just cant seem to pick anything. I was looking at building around a 2080 super just to make sure that i will have the highest FPS possible for the build. IF u guys have something different please help me out! much appreciated! The wife bought me a 27inch 1440p amd freesync 144hz monitor if thats helps anything. Id like to build something that is current and "new". I was looking at going amd with a ryzen 5 3600 and a rx 5700xt but the fps is still kinda low, So a 2080 or super version would be ideal or even a 2070. I just need some help.... Ive heard that Intel 9700k is prolly the best bet but i dont see any motherboards for intel that support pci-e 4.0. Not like its a big deal but id like to have the most current up to date that i can.

I would have to disagree.

The 20080 is a good choice for very high frame rates with the details at max settings at 1440p. I don't turn my graphics settings down with my 2070 Super at 1440p. In fact I play with most settings at or near max with frame rates well above 60 on AAA titles

The most up to date offering at this time would be AMD and the x570 chipset. There is no advantage with PCIe 4.0 and gpu's at this time. But what the x570 provides right now is bandwidth for your storage devices.

When building on a budget the 350 boards make sense. But if you have it in the budget I always suggest the x570 with the 3000 series cpu's.

Something like this wth room in the budget left;

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor...

Anything you'd want at 144Hz you'd want on lower quality settings... stop worrying about being up to date on things like PCIE as we've only just maxed out PCIE 3.0 x8 never mind x16. A 5700XT will do fine, any game where you want the details cranked will run well over 60 and you really don't see much benefit if any from the frame rate on those (Tomb raider, new Star Wars for example). And the games that you want high frames for (Overwatch, CSGO etc) should be on lower detail settings anyway and are easier to run so you should be getting 144FPS plus anyway. I'd go R7 3700X with a 5700XT
