Hi there,

My friend and I have been looking at building a new gaming PC for 2020 (Rainbow Six, GTA V, etc) with a budget of around £1000-1200. We have come up with this list:

PCPartPicker Part List: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/dZ2kZf

CPU: Intel Core i5-10600K 4.1 GHz 6-Core Processor (£276.97 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler (£73.65 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: ASRock B460 Pro4 ATX LGA1200 Motherboard (£109.38 @ More Computers)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (£74.28 @ CCL Computers)
Storage: Crucial MX500 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (£59.45 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£52.51 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB OC Video Card (£298.97 @ Laptops Direct)
Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case (£86.49 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: Corsair RM (2019) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£121.40 @ Alza)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit (£100.24 @ CCL Computers)
Custom: H&S 100 Reusable Cable Ties Straps Adjustable Tidy Wrap Hook and Loop Long Large Strong Black for PC Computer Electronics (£4.99 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £1258.33

We were wondering if anyone had any suggestions for any improvements or any experience with the new generation CPUs?

Many Thanks

3200Mhz RAM? Does that motherboard even support it? Even then get the 3000 LPX and OC i have 2X8GB 3000Mhz LPX Oc'd to 3200 CL 16 20 20 38 CR 1T. Also if you can stretch the budget a lil bit get a 2060 Super the extra 2GB VRAM may come handy in a while. Or wait it out a bit without a gpu and get one of the ampere or rdna 2 they will be worth the wait.

Just checked and you're correct, the motherboard doesn't support that RAM, would it be more beneficial to look at a motherboard that does support that RAM due to the higher speed or stick with the 3000 LPX? Will definitely have a look at the 2060 Super as another option as well!

Many Thanks

Nah 3000Mhz is fine for Intel. Unless you wanna look at benchmarks all day. I OC'd mine just for the name lol there's no noticeable difference in gaming between 3000 and 3200 LPX, maybe if you put in a different KIT with much tighter timing like the G-SKILL but totally not worth the money for the % of gain. Put it on the GPU and get a 2060 Super.

Looks ok overall.. but I'd definitely change few parts..

1. bequite cooler = worst quality cooler imho. go for similar price Noctua instead.
- I had nightmare thanks to total junk bequite Dark Rock TF cooler(https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...equite-dark-rock-tf-cooler-thank-you.3611189/ ) extremely poor quality and installation and customer service doesn't exist with bequite.
i.e. I'm never buying another bequite product eve again.

2. Asrock Z490 mobo has pretty bad reviews(heat and poor vrm etc), not sure about B460, but try Asus/Gigabyte/MSI instead..
- also I'd go for Z490 mobo for extra $$$ since you are buying a K model CPU.

3. 16GB Corsair 3200CL16 RAM - I would go for 16GB G.Skill 3200C16 instead, something like Ripjaws V.
- G.Skill makes much better RAM imo, Corsair only makes decent PSU and that's about it.

4. 500GB Crucial MX500 - I'd change it to faster Crucial P1 or Samsung 970 EVO Plus etc, or even ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro which is pretty cheap but still much faster than Crucial MX500.

5. Corsair RM750 - personally I'd change it to Corsair RM850 for like $10 extra, but up to you.
