I'm getting my first gaming pc and I'm debating between the 2060 Super or the 5700 XT. I'm pairing this with a Ryzen 5 3600, and I'll mainly be using the system for gaming and schoolwork. Which GPU will be better for me? If you have an alternate model that you think will be better for me, then plz comment it. I also plan on using the PC with a FreeSync monitor, btw. Appreciate any kind of feedback.

5700 XT offers more raw FPS than the 2060S by a decent margin for around the same price. If you only want raw performance/fps, get the 5700 XT. If you want ray tracing, get the 2060S. In my experience as a competitive gamer (I don’t know what games you play so just throwing this in) the 5700 XT is way better because I don’t care about ray tracing, just high frames and smoother gameplay which is better on the 5700 XT than the 2060S. Although the 5700 XT is good for noncompetitive games too because there aren’t a lot of titles out that utilize ray tracing. Google some benchmarks if you like, the pricing of the 2060S is too much IMO for what it offers.

Yeah like others have stated, it's mostly down to pricing in your area. Maybe if you have a mATX or poor airflow in general go with the 2060S because the XT5700 can run a bit hotter. But if you can find the 5700XT cheaper then go for that 100%.

If I plan on using a FreeSync monitor, would it be better if I get the 5700 XT?

Ray tracing isn't big enough to justify the lower frames imo. I'm prob gonna do a bit more digging, but for now I'm leaning 5700 XT. I've heard the AMD version isn't that great, so I'm prob gonna get the Gigabyte triple fan model.
