Greetings.

I am having a little problem deciding what GPU I should get next. ASUS preferably.

I'm interested in the 2060 Super. But at the same time I'm a little interested in the RX 5700XT. I need a GPU that will keep up for a few years.

Something that goes along well with my 2700x.

My ASUS 970 is still kicking @ss. But some games get a bit FPS hungry in some areas. Especially in GRB. But what can you expect from a 5yo GPU.

Smooth gameplay is what I need.

5700 XT is usually compared with a 2070 super rather a 2060 super. Although if you speak about the ASUS TUF 5700 XT with the triple fan then i would just avoid it. This model have big problems with temps and thats why it is going for really cheap right now. Sapphire, Power color , Gigabyte have good 5700 XT cards.

Right, so I did some research and the ASUS 5700XT has some serious cooling problems, which can cause crashes. Thanks for the heads up. So in theory 5700XT is better than 2060? Please note that I mean the ASUS versions of these cards. How much performance difference is it between the 2060 and the 5700XT? I will be playing only in 1080p and at least a steady 60fps makes me satisfied.

Not in theory. In fact 5700 XT will give you more frames than the 2060 super. As i said you have to compare the 5700 XT with 2070 Super and not with 2060 super. The only difference is that you lose RTX , DLSS support. Right now as an RTX GPU owner i still dont find a reason to use these (mainly because the really big loss of performance) and a really small amount of games support these features anyway. When the new consoles that is confirmed will support RTX probably this will change. 5700 XT is mosly used for 1440p. For just 1080p60hz you can buy a cheaper card but if you buy the 5700XT will last you longer.
