Good day to you all
I bought my mates old 2070 off him to upgrade from my 1060 but when ever I play anything, from destiny 2 to elderscrolls online to even Subnautica i get this awful buzzing from the 2070,
I know its the 2070 because I've had my head in the case pinpointing the sound, checked everything else including the fans and HDD, and the sound is just dreadful, Had it out and air dusted, the card, socket, power pins and I'm stumped as to what to do.
I suspect it maybe coil whine but never had the problem with the 1060
I also may suspect that even though my psu is a 650 its not a "gaming" one

ANY help would be much appreciated! :)

Thank you.

ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING (AM4)
HyperX FURY 16GB (2x 8GB) 3200MHz DDR4 RAM
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 AM4 CPU
WD Green M.2 SSD 240GB
1tb sata HDD
PSU Corsair CP-9020098-UK 650w

Solution
People are complaining about coil whine even on RTX3090s too. That's a nearly unavoidable side-effect of having GPUs that can go from drawing 100+A to 10A in a matter of microseconds, coils deform under the magnetic stress and you hear those vibrations when large changes occur with some GPU-PSU combinations being worse than others depending on how they interact with each other.
If its only happening while gaming it probably is coil whine

Some video cards get it, some don't. When I was looking to buy a new card I noticed the 2060 / 2070's in particular had coil whine complaints depending on the model

As TwitchyTanner said a different (preferably better) power supply could potentially help with that but its not guaranteed to fix the problem.

There's a bunch of things you can try that might help. Some people find success with undervolting, some people find capping their FPS in games helps, vsync helps with some people, could get some sort of noise dampeners to put in your case, etc. If you google it you'll find a lot of suggestions people throw around that might be worth a shot

Coil whine is a real thing, and depending on how good your hearing is, might bother you quite a bit. The more powerful a GPU is, the more susceptible they will be to coil whine. I had an AMD RX Vega 56, which had a bad coil whine. It bothered me enough that I sold it to a friend, who could barely even hear the noise.
