Performance wise 2070 is pretty much same as 1080 or tiny bit better.
making it more a choice of "which is cheaper"

Yes, 2070 has raytracing and all that but IF battlefield 5 testing is at all accurate (might not be but should give general direction) then said new shiny raytracing features will have 50% performance downgrade.

making said feature both rare for games supported and... totally performance expensive.

1070Ti would likely work just fine too though. The difference to 1080 is around 10 to 15% at best.
