I know that I posted here before several times with no replies or answers so I will try again for the final time. I have a x470 Taichi Ultimate with 32GB (3200) RAM and a Ryzen 7 2700x. I was thinking of buying an rtx 3060 12GB (preferably a super or Ti.) I thought I would settle for a 2080 super or Ti but noticed they are going for about the same price. I know the board does not have a PCI e 4.0x16 but I know I can still use it. My question is if the 3060 OC would be too much for the 2700x or if there is an optimal card for this build (at least a 2070 super). I know that I were to buy a 3060 OC or Gaming X that I would be limited to PCIe 3.0x16 speeds and that most likely the 3060 would be getting better for the money and "future proofing" my system so to speak. Please any kind of reply, even if it is a FU would be greatly appreciated. I might be able to grab a 2080 super, torque blower style card for $850 that seems a bit high compared to any of the 3060.

The RTX 2080 Super is a step above the RTX 3060 overclocked. The RTX 2080 Super is for 1440p to 4k gaming while the RTX 3060 is more for 1080p to 1440p gaming. Sure they can both do 4k but both cards are more for 1440p. The RTX 2080 Super is the best choice.
I'm not super technical but I recently purchased an Alienware R11 desktop setup that has a 2080S in it. I'm having some slight issues with it underperforming, even with hours of tuning etc. I would probably just go for a 30xx series. They seem less of a hastle.

with that build you wont have pcie 4 i have a 2080 but if i was you i would wait till the stock gets better before you buy you should be able to get a 2080 or 2080ti for much cheaper in the future

I can theoretically get a 300 series GPU (say $536@BLT) at much better listed prices but everything is out of stock, backordered or whatever. I am sure that the final price I would have to pay would be at least double that $536 price IF they are able to get any at all period. With the waiting lists I suspect that I might be able to have one in hand by next year sometime. Currently I can get any number of new 3060s for around $750ish. Does anyone what the state of things are with manufacturers on when they might be able to mass produce any meaningful supply or will they just drop these models and move toward the 8000 and 9000 series forcing me to these much older cards as get as can get. Currently I only can afford (struggling) nothing beyond the 3060's specifically. I currently have no GPU whatsoever and so I guess I can go artistically hobble (practically disabled) for yet another year and see how bad prices are then. I am sure by then I might be able to afford a 2060, 70 or 80. I do NOT game ever, I simply have no time, so it is for photo edits (I know I don't need a GPU for that) but I do edit and render video specifically.

2080 super s a better card IMO but does lack PCIe 4, but it s backward compatible and many say the difference isnt noticeable. I dont have a 3000 series card to verify this personally.

the 3060 is actually between 2060s to 2070 performance, and overclocked will be 2080 non super performance. The 2080 can also be overclocked though so don't count that out. For me I would go with the 2080 because it is actually better than the 3060 stock if you are not overclocking.
