Pewie Do me a favor: Load the webpage above, and scroll down to the heading "How to Enable “G-SYNC Compatible” Mode on Any FreeSync Monitor," and follow the steps.

Then once you've confirmed that your MSI display is connected to the computer by a DisplayPort cable, and once you've enabled Freesync in the Nvidia control panel, load up a game, and set the FPS to "unlimited", and disable Vsync. Once G-Sync is properly enabled, it will properly prevent your display from exceeding the Freesync range, 100 FPS in your case. And with Vsync disabled, your input lag will be greatly diminished, which is a good thing. Please try...
Pewie What is your display's manufacturer and model number? Also, what is your power supply's manufacturer and model number? I'm asking about the display, because I want to look up if it has g-sync capability, which would be a much better option than vsync. I want to know about your power supply model, because I want to determine if your graphics card is being appropriately powered.

FYI: Toward the beginning of this year, Nvidia allowed Freesync displays to be compatible with the G-sync feature of their graphics cards. Also, your issue appears to be a common one, based on my google search. Please turn off Vsync ASAP. google query: vsync 144 60

Might as well: The monitor review below shows that your monitor is compatible with their "On Screen Display" software (link immediately below), so that you can calibrate your monitor settings directly from your computer, without bothering with the OSD joystick in the back of the display. I recommend that you connect the mentioned USB cable between your computer and display, and install the software to further enhance your experience. I've time stamped the review to jump directly to the description of the Gaming OSD software.

Have you checked that you have the GPU connected to the correct PCI Slot (the one right below the CPU). I had the same problem because of that, but with a GTX 1660 Ti and a R5 2600.
