I just got a 2080 Ti back from RMA. It worked fine for like 2 days, then crashed with artifacts. It worked fine after that for a couple days. And now it's crashed again and will not recover. I tried reseating the card, and did a clean install of the geforce drivers.

I have 2 montiors, one on Display Port, and one on HDMI. The HDMI monitor partially recovered but only displays at 800x600. I tried bringing up MSI afterburner to see if there's a temperature issue or something, but it wouldn't show any data.

The artifacts come up as square discolorations scattered everywhere. The screen also does it as it's booting up and hasn't gotten to windows yet.

Is there anything I can do to solve the issue before sending it back to RMA? Normally it would be fine, but the RMA on a 2080 Ti can take over 8 weeks now days.

Any help would be appreciated.

Solution
  1. Use ddu to uninstall drivers
  2. Make clean install
  3. Try to use same cables - display ports or hdmi's
  4. Use two separate power cables for gpu
  5. For monitoring temps use MSI Afterburner with Riva Tuners installed. Then you'll be able to monitor temps, voltages, etc. Here is the way how to monitor.
EDIT: After you did drivers, try to use one monitor at first.
What is your EXACT power supply model number and how long has it been in service?

Have you tried another graphics card in this system to see if there are similar problems that might indicate this is a board or power supply issue?

Does it work fine with the integrated graphics?
