[SOLVED] 2080 Ti freezes when changing refresh rate

Just bought new 2080 Ti updated my bios got latest driver directly from nvidia even completely clean format fresh install windows. Drivers install fine programs install fine using internet as we speak. As soon as I set the windows refresh rate to 120 or 144 black screen freezes if I apply it and keep rebooting PC it black screens as soon as I get past the windows login screen. Using Display Port cable tried the other display port plugs on the card 144hz BenQ monitor. Runs fine at 59 and 60.... I don't understand is my card defective?

Update: I changed the refresh rate in the Nvidia control settings to 120hz and it works confirmed but when I go to 144hz it flashes like it accepts it then automatically runs me at 120hz?

As stated on the info page in places to buy that monitor, "Connectivity: Achieve 144Hz through DVI-DL connection port." display port is not going to work for 144Hz. buy a converter or if your graphics card has a port just use a DVI dl cable.

I want everyone to know that this is a problem exclusive to 2080 Ti and BenQ monitors. Nvidia released a hotfix driver to resolve this issue allowing 144hz to work properly now. Thank you.
