Hi guys,
I would first like to thank all of you for your time. Will the following hardware bottleneck my msi rtx 2080ti trio during normal operation/stock clock or when overclocked?

PC specs are as follows - Z270 m5 motherboard, 16 GB ddr4 Corsair vengeance rgb, 850 W cosair psu, i7-7700k CPU.
Thanks again.

It has been confirmed by a few techtubers that even their 5.0GHz 8700K's are being bottlenecked at 1080P by the GTX 2080 ti. So if your at 1080P yes, you'll get a bottleneck everywhere (which isn't horrible, even a 7700K can still allow the 2080 ti to push stupid high FPS at 1080P).

For 1440P and 4k and 5k and 8k, you shouldn't see any bottlenecking.

Alright thanks guys and I use a UWQHD at 120 hz. So I guess there should be not problems. It's strange that I only get 62-70 fps on ultra on assassin's Creed oddessey, then again that game has some optimization issues.

Could be the game. There are things that you can do to improve performance that don't really affect visuals. Hardware unboxed has a video on it.

Not likely. After all Tom's does all their RTX testing so far on a 7700k rig.

See:
https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2080-ti-founders-edition,5805.html

"Nvidia’s latest and greatest will no doubt be found in one of the many high-end platforms now available from AMD and Intel. Our graphics station still employs an MSI Z170 Gaming M7 motherboard with an Intel Core i7-7700K CPU at 4.2 GHz, though. The processor is complemented by G.Skill’s F4-3000C15Q-16GRR memory kit. Crucial’s MX200 SSD remains, joined by a 1.4TB Intel DC P3700 loaded down with games."

As long as it is a not a Ryzen or some other AMD with lousy single core performance, you won't be gimping your GPU anymore than what current tech allows.

Is your only proof of this that quote? It's pretty widely known that even an 8700k will hold back a 2080 ti in some modern CPU heavy titles. Conveniently AC odyssey as mentioned above. I'll bust out the benchmarks if you would like.

Hi All,

I'm planning to change my GTX 1080ti with the new RTX 3000 that will come later this year (3080 or 3080ti) cause I want to join the ray tracing experience :) .
Should I suppose to change also my intel 7700k due to possible bottleneck problems?
I usually prefer to play @1440p and I have 16Gb DDR4 RAM.

Thanks in advance.

Simone.

Your question would be better asked in your own post vs reviving one from over a year ago.

The 7700k is still a competent performer. At 1440p should still be fine for pushing decent frames. I'm on a 7700 non k/2080 and see no need for a cpu upgrade for playing at 1440p. Do I want to upgrade, yes. Need to, absolutely not. And that's why I haven't.

Noone really knows how much better the 3xxx will be vs 2xxx, but still think the 7700k will be ok.
