[SOLVED] 2080ti not performing well

Hi all,

New to this forum - hope you can help me find a solution for this problem.

I have a two year old machine, that used to perform really well, but recently been having trouble getting the FPS I was used to. Thought maybe an update to the Geforce driver would help, but it continues.

So thought I would do 3Dmark benchmark and compare, and my score is in the below 2% of same systems. Just did a complete reinstall of Windows, which didn't help.

Is there anything in the benchmark that stands out? Or anything you would recommend me try?

It looks like your ram isn't running in XMP mode, that looks like SPD,

Thanks for that tip - it did raise the score a bit, but still don't think its at the level it should be. Other 2080ti´s, that are running regular core speeds are at +13-14.000.

So strange that it can suddenly happen like this. Would be easier to understand if it just didn't work. Not loosing 25% performance

Please run a userbenchmark and post a link to the results. It could be your CPU holding back your GPU in this instance.
For reference, the rig in my sig gets over 11000 in Time Spy.

are you using MSI-AB/RIVATUNER to cap your FPS? something is definitely wrong also are running your GPU in the top slot?

G-Sync was on, so ran another test. Also closed NZXT Cam background task - as it seemed like there was heavy background activity. This helped on the result in a big way - however, GPU is still not performing as expected and Time Spy is still at the same score. GPU is in the top slot, and Ive never changed anything in the PC since I got it, which really makes it odd I am seeing a performance decline.

Run HWiNFO64 in the background (sensors only, logging on). Run through Time Spy a few times. Check out the log file and/or upload it somewhere where we can have a look.

What are your temps at when running the test? and what is your PSU. The biggest thing with the RTX cards is power and temp. As long as temps are ok and you are under the power draw for the card it will keep boosting. Its only when you hit the power limit or the card gets to hot will it start to throttle itself.

At this point it could come down to your CPU and ram.

Looking at your last Userbenchmark your GPU was running Clock speed 2250MHz Memory 3500MHz, while mine was at Clock 2190Mhz Memory 3500MHz.

It then comes down to

Im also on a older GPU driver then you.

Theoretically your GPU should be doing better then mine based on Clock and Memory speeds, so the only thing i see different is CPU and Memory speeds.

You are still getting great results, why do you need those benchmark numbers if it does great for your needs?

Your results are not terrible but how much better was it before?

If this is a mostly gaming computer I say disable the meltdown and spectre fixes and try again

That program will allow you to disable the fixes and reactivate them if you chose to do so.

Ive got a few systems running with it disabled and I mine on one of them and do my banking on the other without issue so far. I doubt there is some type of global conspiracy to invade your privacy and steal your data... could be though,

I do suggest at least test your pc with those fixes disabled i've gained substantial perfomance at least 20% in most games.

Lastly your psu could be failing and having issues supplying power.
