I've got 20GB DDR4 RAM, two 8GBs stick in slots B & D and one 4GB in slot A. Does this mean i'm not running dual channel? And will this hurt my gaming performance? TY

Win10
GTX 1060 6GB
i5 8400
20GB RAM
I think it is not running in dual channel. For best performance i would recommend to put those two 8 gb modules in slots A and C or B and D. For best performance you will need 4 sticks of ram. 4x8
If the 16gb is actually a kit then I'd take the 16gb in dual channel over that 20gb any day as I'm pretty sure the performance would be slightly better.

I think your mistaken, the best performance would be 2x16gb (if were talking about 32gb of memory).

Yes it's a kit, I was thinking about getting another 4GB to add to the single 4GB I have. For a total of 24 gigs. It's only like $30 now. I know the risk of buying a non kit, but I'll see if it's works. Would it be dual channel or quad channel if I add the extra 4GB?
