I'm not able to get a signal between my room and my flatmates room in our Basement flat.
The distance is around 20 meters, although the line of sight would go through about 4 or 5 thick (concrete?) walls. Just to the left of the 'line of sight' though is the corridor.

We're both using Belkins Wireless USB Network Adapters (802.11b) that were bought together as a pack for beginners, so i know they should work.
I've also had my flatmates computer in my room when i set them up, so i know that i have set them up corectly and been able to transfer files at a distance of 10 cm!
But right now, any ping gets a 'timed out response'. I've been thinking about buying some extra long USB wires to enable better positioning of the WiFi adapters, but once they're closer it'll basically destroy the reason for going wireless in the first place - the sheer COOLNESS of it!

Any suggestions (and i can already hear people saying "buy 10/100 lan card & wire")?

Well, just for those that may follow me : i gave in, bought a wired LAN setup, all for very cheap, reliable and fast access.
I really should have done this in the first place.
