Are they any good for gaming?

Also, which are currently the best ones? Best Budget one, all the way to the top of the pile.

I am considering to upgrade to one, if it adds to gaming experience

I have a Dell U291wm ultra-wide, which is a high end monitor, so I can comment on that end.

Overall it's good for gaming, movies, web browsing, and editing. You can easily fit two web browsers net to each other and it's like having two monitors. Gaming is pretty awesome with a massive FOV.

Downsides are - 4-3 content like TV shows don't take up much of the monitor. Not every game supports 21-9 so you may have to tweak some settings. Bear in mind that these are mostly older games and bad ports.

If you plan on getting one for gaming, it will work well for that.

How well do things scale? Any instance where things were stretched and pixelated?

Also what res are you running?

Games not supporting 2560 X 1080 or 3440 X 1080. I've never had that problem using a 1440P monitor though.
I'd say... go for it if you're gonna use it for other things besides gaming.
If you're mostly looking for a gaming monitor then just go with 1440P.. you won't ever have problems w/ games not supporting the res.

But does every "Ultra Wide" monitor has that option?

Dell monitors also have a "premium" price tag. Although I admit they make very nice monitors.

You get what you pay for. All the connectors, software, USB hub, excellent cable selection, long warranty, and good support.. Dell will mail you a replacement without sending your current one in and extend your warranty if something is wrong. I had my 3 yr extended to a 5 yr.

This is aside from the fact that it's factory calibrated and can double as a editing station. For the same price as an LG ultra wide, I choose the dell.
