Hi all,

I recently bought a new 1 TB SSD (Patriot P210) for my old Lenovo X230 with 120 GB SSD. After cloning the OS & data to a new SSD, and using it for around 3 months, it suddenly made a beeping sound today and wouldn't boot. It shows the following error.

2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD). Press Esc to continue

1. I tried removing the battery and SSD and putting it back again to it see if it helps. Out of 10 attempts, it managed to boot 1 time but froze on the desktop screen and I couldn't really do anything.
2. I don't think the motherboard is faulty as I tested with my old SSD and it works fine.
3. My gut feeling is that the new P210 SSD has failed which is quite unusual for a brand new product but how do I make sure it is faulty, I may have to get a refund from Amazon/Patriot so may have to prove that it's faulty? (not sure how it works)
4. Sorry if it sounds dumb but, If I connect this new SSD to another computer as an external drive to run some tests, will it lose its booting ability by any chance?

Please let me know what can I do here.
Cheers.

It should be safe to connect the drive as external storage on another computer. Use a SMART tool such as CrystalDiskInfo to obtain a SMART report.
Thanks. I did that. Here's the report and it confuses me more as it says that the HDD status is good condition and at 100%. Let me know what you think. Thanks
