Hey guys, i hat G.Skill z series ram at 2133mhz and it refuses to run at 2133 and is unstable at 1866 i currently have it at 1600. I wish to have it at 2133 and i am aware that i may be required to overclock something a little bit to have that dream come true. I have never overclocked anything so if someone could help me out by giving me a step by step thatd be amazing.

Thanks!

My entire system specs are in my sig. and if i enable xmp profile 1 (1866) its unstable and if i got 2 (2133) it wont boot.

The fact that it's new doesn't mean that there's no way it's faulty. I always test every new piece of RAM that I buy and I've found a few that produced Memtest86+ errors out of the box. If a new stick of RAM gives a single error then I send it back.

Anyway, that RAM requires 1.65v to run at 2133MHz which is above the recommended Intel voltage. It's also harder to get four sticks of RAM to run at a fast speed than it is with two sticks. Your CPU only officially supports 1600MHz RAM, so you may not get the RAM running faster than that with your current hardware.

It's not a big deal since you won't notice any difference in everyday use between 1600MHz and 2133MHz.

Even though the CPU only "officially" supports 1600MHz RAM, it should easily be able to run 2133MHz RAM. If the RAM is failing to boot at its rated specs then it would be considered faulty and qualify for RMA. My guess is that at least one of the sticks likely produces Memtest86+ errors.

ok im trying to run memtest here i put it on a formatted usb drive and set it to boot but it didnt do anything am i missing something?

my bios also tells me its running it at 2133 or 1866 when i choose the xmp profile but the sticks themselves are running at 1600 via bios.
